Senior Independent Seller
Independent contractor · commission-based · Remote
A senior, independent, full-cycle sales opportunity: identify a real enterprise opportunity, develop it, navigate the organization, and help get the deal done.
Level Up Labs is looking for experienced enterprise technology sellers to help bring our growing portfolio of first-party software products to market.
This is a senior, independent, full-cycle sales opportunity for people who know how to identify a real enterprise opportunity, engage the right stakeholders, understand what matters to the customer, develop the opportunity, navigate the organization, and help get a deal done.
In return: 20% commission on qualifying initial product sales. No commission ceiling.
What you'll sell
Level Up Labs builds and sells its own enterprise software, including:
- BacklogZero — agentic automation and DevOps software for Ansible environments.
- Factimonious Teams — software for evidence-driven AI code review, software management, and engineering governance.
- Pinionize Teams (planned) — repo-native coordination and orchestration for AI-assisted software development.
This role focuses on growing Level Up's own software business rather than reselling third-party software or professional services.
Essential responsibilities
You primarily own: Prospect → Qualify → Discover → Develop → Navigate → Negotiate → Close
Senior Independent Sellers determine their own methods for accomplishing the engagement. Typical activities that Senior Independent Sellers may use include:
- Identify and develop prospective enterprise customers for Level Up Labs products.
- Build and maintain relationships with technical, operational, business, procurement, and executive stakeholders.
- Conduct initial qualification and business discovery; understand objectives, environments, buying processes, and decision criteria.
- Develop account and opportunity strategies appropriate to each prospective customer.
- Coordinate product demonstrations, technical discovery, and follow-up sessions with Level Up technical resources.
- Communicate product capabilities, commercial terms, and business value accurately and professionally.
- Maintain opportunity notes, next steps, stakeholder information, and sales-stage information.
- Develop a pipeline of qualified opportunities, using methods and a schedule of the Senior Independent Seller's own choosing.
- Identify additional product opportunities within existing customer relationships when appropriate.
- Coordinate responses involving technical architecture, security, privacy, procurement, legal review, and implementation.
- Navigate enterprise procurement and vendor-management processes.
- Participate materially in commercial discussions and negotiations.
- Coordinate with Level Up leadership on pricing, proposals, contractual matters, and commitments requiring company approval.
- Follow opportunities through completion rather than simply arranging introductions.
- Fulfill the agreed engagement deliverables using resources, methods, and personnel of the Senior Independent Seller's own choosing.
Qualifications
- Significant experience selling enterprise technology, software, infrastructure, cloud, developer tools, automation, or related products.
- Demonstrated ability to originate and develop enterprise opportunities.
- Experience conducting discovery and communicating with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience navigating multi-stakeholder enterprise purchasing processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication, sound commercial judgment, and professional follow-through.
- Ability to understand technical products well enough to identify customer fit and communicate business value.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple active opportunities.
Experience with one or more of the following is particularly relevant:
- Red Hat and the enterprise Linux ecosystem
- Ansible, AAP, or AWX
- DevOps and platform engineering

- Cloud platforms
- Developer tools
- AI and agentic software
- Software engineering platforms

Relevant backgrounds include:

Independent business requirements
To perform this engagement, you must:
- Operate as a registered business entity (such as a corporation, limited liability company, or licensed sole proprietorship), including any business license required by applicable law.
- Maintain general liability insurance (and, where applicable, professional/errors-and-omissions insurance) covering the Senior Independent Seller's business activities.
- Be free to, and generally have the capacity to, provide similar services to other companies, including competitors of Level Up, concurrently with this engagement.
- Be free to perform the engagement using the Senior Independent Seller's own personnel, tools, and subcontractors, subject to the confidentiality and quality obligations in the independent contractor agreement.
Work requirements
- Remote independent-contractor opportunity. Work is primarily computers, phone/video, email, and standard business technology.
- May periodically include customer meetings, conferences, or industry events when mutually appropriate to an opportunity.
- You generally determine manner, location, and schedule, subject to agreed customer commitments, deliverables, applicable law, and the independent contractor agreement.
- Senior Independent Sellers are not required to devote a minimum amount of time to this engagement and generally use their own business email, communication tools, and materials. Any Level Up systems or materials made available are provided solely for engagement purposes.
Compensation
- Independent, commission-based role with no salary, draw, or guaranteed monthly compensation unless separately agreed.
- Initial product sale: 20% of collected revenue
- Net incremental product revenue during the first 12 months: 7.5%
- Commission ceiling: none
Examples
- $15,000 initial sale → $3,000 commission
- $50,000 initial sale → $10,000 commission
- $100,000 initial sale → $20,000 commission
- $500,000 in qualifying initial product sales → $100,000 commission
- $1,000,000 in qualifying initial product sales → $200,000 commission
Each eligible Level Up Labs product can represent a separate product opportunity. A customer who begins with one product and later develops a qualifying opportunity for another can create another initial product sale.
Commissions are based on qualifying collected revenue under the applicable independent contractor agreement and compensation plan.
This is not a referral program with a larger commission percentage. Senior commission reflects materially participating in the sales process and helping bring opportunities to revenue.
What success looks like
There is no arbitrary meeting quota. The scoreboard is qualified pipeline → opportunity progression → sourced product revenue.
We care about creating genuine customer opportunities and progressing them efficiently.
Independent contractor relationship
This opportunity is for an independent contractor, not an employee. Independent Sellers operate independent businesses and are responsible for their own taxes, expenses, insurance, licensing, and equipment.
Senior Independent Sellers may perform the engagement personally or through their own employees, personnel, or subcontractors, and are free to provide the same or similar services to other companies, including competitors of Level Up, at the same time.
Nothing in this posting authorizes you to bind Level Up, execute agreements, change pricing, guarantee functionality, or make unsupported product or compliance claims.
Level Up provides product expertise, engineering resources, technical demonstrations, security and technical responses, pricing authority, contractual approval, and executive support. We want experienced sellers selling — not trying to become product engineers.
Level Up retains final authority over product pricing, technical commitments, contractual terms, proposals, and company obligations.
Engagement terms are governed by the applicable written independent contractor agreement and compensation plan.
Nondiscrimination in contractor selection
We consider qualified individuals for independent contracting opportunities without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable law.
Applicants who require an accommodation to participate in the application, selection, or contracting process may request one from Level Up Labs.
Why Level Up Labs
Level Up has spent years working inside enterprise infrastructure, automation, cloud, and software engineering environments. We're now applying that experience to building our own software.
We're looking for sellers who see an opportunity in getting involved while that product business is still being built — when an experienced person with the right customer relationships and sales ability can have an outsized impact.
There is no commission ceiling, no assigned meeting quota, and no requirement to pretend every account is equally valuable.
Find real problems. Start real conversations. Develop real opportunities. Help us close business.
