Independent Seller

Independent contractor · $100 per accepted qualified meeting (up to $1,000/month) + commission · Remote

Find the right companies, start credible conversations, and get qualified prospects on a call with us. Level Up primarily takes it from there.

Level Up Labs is looking for independent technology sellers who can create qualified customer conversations for our growing portfolio of first-party software products.

Your primary responsibility is straightforward: find the right companies, find the right people, start credible conversations, qualify genuine opportunities, and get qualified prospects on a call with us.

We handle deep technical discovery, product demonstrations, engineering questions, technical and security validation, proposals, pricing, negotiation, contracting, and closing. You create qualified pipeline. We help convert it into customers.

What you'll sell

Level Up Labs builds and sells its own enterprise software, including:

  • BacklogZero — agentic automation and DevOps software for Ansible environments.
  • Factimonious Teams — software for evidence-driven AI code review, software management, and engineering governance.
  • Pinionize Teams (planned) — repo-native coordination and orchestration for AI-assisted software development.

This role focuses on growing Level Up's first-party software business rather than reselling third-party software or professional services.

Essential responsibilities

You primarily own: Prospect → Engage → Qualify → Qualified Meeting

Level Up primarily owns: Discovery → Demonstration → Technical Validation → Proposal → Negotiation → Close

Independent Sellers determine their own methods for accomplishing the engagement. Typical activities that Independent Sellers may use include:

  • Identify organizations and prospective buyers with plausible needs for Level Up Labs products.
  • Research accounts, relevant stakeholders, and potential product fit.
  • Develop prospecting strategies and conduct professional outreach through appropriate business channels.
  • Build and maintain relationships with technical, operational, business, and executive stakeholders.
  • Conduct initial qualification to understand customer needs, environments, priorities, and product fit.
  • Clearly and accurately communicate the purpose, capabilities, and business value of Level Up Labs products.
  • Schedule substantive sales meetings with qualified prospective customers and provide Level Up enough context for productive discovery.
  • Coordinate introductions and handoffs to appropriate Level Up technical and commercial personnel.
  • Maintain prospect, opportunity, meeting, and follow-up information.
  • Deliver the number of qualified introductions specified in the applicable independent contractor agreement, using methods and a schedule of the Independent Seller's own choosing.
  • Identify additional product opportunities within relevant customer relationships.
  • Escalate technical, security, privacy, legal, contractual, pricing, or product questions rather than making unsupported commitments.
  • Fulfill the agreed engagement deliverables using resources, methods, and personnel of the Independent Seller's own choosing.

Qualifications

  • Experience in technology sales, business development, sales engineering, account management, consulting, partnerships, or another customer-facing technology role.
  • Ability to identify organizations and stakeholders likely to have relevant business or technical needs.
  • Ability to conduct professional prospecting, initial qualification, and accurate product conversations without overstating capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, sound judgment, and professional follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple conversations, and use standard sales and productivity tools.

Experience with one or more of the following is particularly relevant:

  • Red Hat and the enterprise Linux ecosystem
  • Ansible, AAP, or AWX
  • DevOps and platform engineering
  • Infrastructure automation
  • Cloud platforms
  • Developer tools
  • AI and agentic software
  • Software engineering platforms
  • Enterprise technology sales or consulting

Relevant backgrounds include:

  • Technology sales
  • Territory sales
  • Sales engineering
  • Partner or channel sales
  • Account management
  • Technical consulting
  • Enterprise infrastructure
  • Cloud and DevOps
  • Software engineering
  • AI and automation

Independent business requirements

To perform this engagement, you must:

  • Operate as a registered business entity (such as a corporation, limited liability company, or licensed sole proprietorship), including any business license required by applicable law.
  • Maintain general liability insurance (and, where applicable, professional/errors-and-omissions insurance) covering the Independent Seller's business activities.
  • Be free to, and generally have the capacity to, provide similar services to other companies, including competitors of Level Up, concurrently with this engagement.
  • Be free to perform the engagement using the Independent Seller's own personnel, tools, and subcontractors, subject to the confidentiality and quality obligations in the independent contractor agreement.

Work requirements

  • Remote independent-contractor opportunity. Work is primarily computers, phone/video, email, and standard business technology.
  • May periodically include customer meetings, conferences, or industry events when mutually appropriate.
  • You generally determine manner, location, and schedule, subject to agreed customer commitments, deliverables, applicable law, and the independent contractor agreement.
  • Independent Sellers are not required to devote a minimum amount of time to this engagement and generally use their own business email, communication tools, and materials. Any Level Up systems or materials made available are provided solely for engagement purposes.

Compensation

  • Fixed engagement fee of $100 per Accepted Qualified Meeting delivered, up to a maximum of $1,000 per month
  • Initial product sale: 10% of collected revenue, with a $300 minimum commission per newly landed product
  • Net incremental product revenue during the first 12 months: 5%
  • Commission ceiling: none

Examples

  • $1,500 sale → $300
  • $3,000 sale → $300
  • $7,500 sale → $750
  • $15,000 sale → $1,500
  • $50,000 sale → $5,000
  • $100,000 sale → $10,000

The engagement fee compensates Independent Sellers on a per-Accepted-Qualified-Meeting basis, up to the monthly maximum, and does not replace earned commissions. It is not a salary, a payment for prescribed working hours, or compensation for availability or time worked.

Commissions are based on qualifying collected revenue under the applicable independent contractor agreement and compensation plan.

What success looks like

As an illustrative, non-binding example, a typical volume of qualified introductions has been about 10 accepted, qualified, held prospect meetings per month (about 5 in month 1, 8 in month 2, then 10).

These figures are for informational purposes only. They are illustrative examples, not contractual quotas, and are not a condition of the monthly engagement fee except to the extent separately and expressly set out in the applicable independent contractor agreement.

We care about meeting quality → sourced pipeline → opportunity progression → customers. A smaller number of substantial enterprise opportunities can be more valuable than a larger number of weak meetings.

A qualified meeting involves a prospective customer with a plausible need and a relevant stakeholder who understands the purpose of the conversation. Mass-generated or fabricated meetings do not count.

A path to more

Independent Seller is primarily a pipeline-development role, but it does not have to remain one.

Senior Independent Sellers materially carry opportunities through discovery, stakeholder development, commercial discussions, negotiation, and close — and can earn 20% on qualifying initial product sales plus 7.5% on qualifying first-year expansion revenue.

Demonstrating the ability to perform the broader full-cycle sales function can create an opportunity to move into that compensation structure.

Independent contractor relationship

This opportunity is for an independent contractor, not an employee. Independent Sellers operate independent businesses and are responsible for their own taxes, expenses, insurance, licensing, and equipment.

The per-meeting engagement fee (up to $1,000 per month) compensates for Accepted Qualified Meetings actually delivered. It is not a salary, a payment for prescribed working hours, or compensation for availability or time worked.

Independent Sellers generally determine the manner, location, and schedule used to perform their work, subject to agreed deliverables, customer commitments, applicable law, and the independent contractor agreement.

Independent Sellers may perform the engagement personally or through their own employees, personnel, or subcontractors, and are free to provide the same or similar services to other companies, including competitors of Level Up, at the same time.

Nothing in this posting authorizes you to bind Level Up, execute agreements, change pricing, guarantee functionality, or make unsupported product or compliance claims.

Level Up retains final authority over product pricing, technical commitments, contractual terms, proposals, and company obligations.

Engagement terms are governed by the applicable written independent contractor agreement and compensation plan.

Nondiscrimination in contractor selection

We consider qualified individuals for independent contracting opportunities without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable law.

Applicants who require an accommodation to participate in the application, selection, or contracting process may request one from Level Up Labs.

Why Level Up Labs

Level Up has spent years in enterprise infrastructure, automation, cloud, and software engineering. We're now using that experience to build our own software.

We don't need you to memorize every technical detail, and we don't need 100 meaningless meetings. We need good judgment, credible outreach, genuine qualification, and real opportunities.

Find the opportunity. Start the conversation. We'll bring the sales engineers.
